Thin Client

Central management of applications
In an effort to cut IT operating costs, more and more companies are adopting the thin-client approach. This concept is based on central management of applications that gives users access to them anytime, from anywhere, and with the tools of their choice, through a simple network connection.

ESI provides terminal consulting, deployment, and optimization services. Our systems engineers have guided a number of companies towards a thin-client architecture. We have extensive knowledge of Citrix's ICA technology, which provides access to any type of Windows, Web, or Unix application from any client station, regardless of the type of connection. Here is a summary of the many advantages of this type of technological approach:
Lower investment costs
Re-use existing hardware. No need to replace workstations with more powerful models in order to keep up with new generations of applications.
Limit maintenance to the server. Only the server has to be scaled to the applications and the load.
Reduce software development costs. Applications can be used by anyone who has permission, without having to configure each station.

Lower user costs
Install and upgrade applications on the server rather than on workstations. All clients can then immediately access them with no further steps.
Reduce operating and maintenance costs. Resources are focused on server maintenance rather than all workstations, which results in lower technical support charges and substantially reduces travel, on-site work, and time-loss.
Lower data transmission costs. The low bandwidth consumption by thin clients translates into network and bandwidth savings, because your network no longer has to be resized or rebuilt as your business expands.
Reduce training costs. The same applications work on every platform.
Cut down on operating losses resulting from computer downtime. Server redundancy and centralized data backup ensure a high level of crash tolerance.
Reduce the risk of data theft. Thin client workstations only function when they are connected to the host server.
