Infrastructure Modernization

Client: Health Care Insurer
This company specializes in health insurance and has been offering complementary services to public health insurance coverage for more than 70 years. For the past three decades, it has also offered a travel insurance component in partnership with various international assistance networks.

Challenges

  • Need to increase server capacity to handle a 5% annual increase in data growth
  • Need to meet user performance requirements
  • Need for a powerful and versatile infrastructure to meet changing needs in the coming years

Our contribution

The client wanted a powerful and versatile new infrastructure to meet their evolving needs for years to come. This option offered more capacity than their current needs, to reach their maximum consumption after 4 to 5 years. However, this choice would require the dismantling of the existing equipment, and therefore the loss of the investments made for their acquisition.

Instead, ESI proposed an alternative solution based on adaptability, to meet future needs, while minimizing short-term investments to meet current demand.

ESI proposed to the customer a solution that integrated existing components to increase capacity and meet the delivery schedule while reducing risk.

Results

Implemented a Cisco UCS blade server to optimize virtual infrastructure, increase agility, and reduce operational complexity without configuration constraints. Progressive and flexible provisioning based on the consumption curve, with high availability and unparalleled growth potential. Reused existing components to reduce the required investment. Used Cisco Performance Manager software to measure bandwidth requirements to minimize expenses, improve availability and efficiency, and reduce risk.
